The Timeline So Far
June 30, 1954:
Body of Vivian Promnight (age 21) discovered.
December 1:
The case unsolved, it fell out of public interest.
Proclamations of "I'm not a ghost" reach mass media outlets.
December 2:
Newspaper "LA Sunshine" places the murderer's photo of the crime scene on their front page, with the headline "The World's Most Beautiful Crime Scene".
Vivian's murder is officially called the "Black Maria Incident".
LA Police Inspector Hank Wild returns to the scene of the crime.
He once again takes the case.
December 12:
Body of Elisa Cell (age 20) discovered at a store in the LA suburbs.
Inspector Hank comes to the conclusion that both murders were committed by the same person.
The mass media supports Hank's theory.
January 25, 1955:
FBI Special Investigator Mike Quiet begins involvement in the case.
He states that the murder of Elisa Cell and the Black Maria Incident were perpetrated by two different people.
The mass media pokes fun at the situation, calling it "Fire vs. Ice".
February 2~
Body of Aisha Inning (age 34) discovered inside a car stopped on a highway.
Edmond Carrie (age 21) is arrested and charged for the murders of Aisha Inning and Elisa Cell.
Authority in the Black Maria case is transferred formally from Police Inspector Hank to Investigator Mike.
May 23:
After an extensive search, 3 abandoned bodies are discovered.
Investigator Mike concludes that these murders were committed by the same man behind the Black Maria Incident.
July 20:
Police Inspector Hank takes newspaper delivery man Richard Blaney into custody as a suspect. However, he is released the same day.
July 24:
Body of material witness Brenda Valentine (age 23) discovered.
July 25~:
Inspector Hank conducts a forced search of Richard's residence. Several pieces of evidence are found. Richard is arrested.
The mass media picks up the story, sensationalizing it to make it appear as if Richard is a twisted, cold-blooded killer.
Harry Powell (age 37) makes a formal request to represent Richard as his defense attorney.
Richard's multiple lawsuits pleading false arrest do nothing to sway the public opinion against him.
The Days Following:
Richard confesses to the Black Maria Incident as well as several murders connected to it.
Hank submits his Q.E.D., and declares the case closed.
