Another Hidden Story in "Q.E.D."
There is one more episode within the story of the Q.E.D. Album--to discover the truth behind the Black Maria Incident, you must know this story. Unfortunately, not all can be revealed through reading the lyrics and story provided here, but if you can find the hints and find where they fit in, then one part of the story will be revealed.
*If Richard really is the killer, then why were there so many unfortunate circumstances linking him to the crime?
*Why did Vivian's friend, Brenda Valentine, remember "the incident with the paper boy" more than a year after Vivian's death? (And, that she had talked to her before she was killed?)
*"I'm not a ghost" (CD Track 8) is based on Vivian's friend, Brenda Valentine. The man who she asks with dissatisfaction, "Do you just want to come?" is...
*Also, "Kuroi Taiyou" (CD Track 10) depicts the first time the fiendish Vivian is completely crazy for someone—she would usually shun ordinary men, so who is the partner who caught her in his dark trap, the "[one] who illuminates the dying night", the one she calls "Kuroi Taiyou"?
*FBI Special Investigator Mike Quiet pinned the murderer in the Elisa Cell case perfectly in his criminal profile...that also applies to his profile of the criminal behind the Black Maria Incident...
*After the resolution of the Black Maria Incident, Special Investigator Mike died as a result of an unfortunate accident. There are doubts as to if it was actually an accidental death. Could it have been another trap? Mike said these mysterious words to his wife the one time he woke up in the hospital: "Black Maria...it was...an upside-down fake..." It is a good idea to think that he was well aware of the truth behind the Black Maria Incident. If Richard would not have been arrested so quickly, and Mike would have continued his investigation, surely...
The day he died, September 10, 1956, was by some odd coincidence Mike's 33rd birthday, making him 33 years old at the time of his death.
*On July 22, 2009, there was something of a "Black Sun" boom due to a total solar eclipse being able to be seen for the first time in 46 years. Several of the people watching took film of the "black sun". They too know the truth behind the Black Maria Incident. Perhaps Special Investigator Mike, who had thought he had found the solution to the Black Maria Incident, was closer to finding the real Q.E.D. than Police Inspector Hank.
*As they say "Every name has a face", one of the characters in Q.E.D. has a name oddly similar to his. It may be a good idea to think of the "Black Maria" as a film, in the same way as the material that appears in the "To Better Understand
Q.E.D." section.
